Hiking Heroes California Wildfire Fundraiser

ashleychon

On February 17th, Hiking Heroes fundraised to help support the communities affected by the California Wildfire. Hiking Heroes raised $1,500 to donate to the Wildfire Recovery Fund to support families and communities suffering from the ongoing effects of the wildfires. Though the initial cause of the wildfires is still being investigated, the rapid and persistent spread of the wildfires is largely a result of high winds, not only spreading the fire but also making it difficult for first responders to extinguish the fires effectively. Some scientists say another reason for the spread is due to an effect called climate whiplash- a geological occurrence due to a rapid transition between extreme wet and dry weather conditions. It's a result of climate change and is increasing globally.

Our hearts go out to the families and residents of California and we encourage readers to donate as well.
